Subhi is a Chicago based Indian-American singer/songwriter. She sings and writes in Hindi and English blending her Indian roots and her western upbringing. Her music promotes cross-cultural exchange of creative dialogues. Anchoring it all together is Subhi’s earthy and organic voice. Her musical exuberance is matched only by her vivacious personality. Earlier this year, Subhi was a showcase artist at South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX. Last year, Subhi performed at the world renowned Kennedy Center of Performing Arts (Washington D.C.) and opened for the band, ‘Red Baraat’ during their Festival of Colors Midwest US Tour. With Subhi’s multicultural-inspired performances, she became a speaker and performer for ‘Talks at Google’ series at Google Headquarters (Mountain View, California), a featured artist for ABC’s Emmy Award winning annual show, ‘Asian Influences’, receiving an invitation to perform live at ABC7 Studio in Chicago, and a featured speaker and performer for TEDx Naperville (Chicago).

Biography

Subhi is a singer/songwriter based in Chicago. Being an Indian-American, she sings and writes in Hindi and English blending her Indian roots and her western upbringing.

She released her debut album "Shaitaan Dil" in 2017 and went on to perform at the prestigious SXSW music festival 2018 & 2019. She was a speaker & performer at TEDx 2017 conference in Chicago. Last year Subhi was invited to speak & perform at ‘Talks At Google’ at Google Headquarters in Mountain View, California. She has performed at several venues including The Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.), Lotus World Music Festival (Indiana), Live On The Lake! series Navy Pier (Chicago), Old Town School of Folk Music (Chicago) & Rockwood Music Hall (New York) to name a few.

ABC7 Chicago featured Subhi’s work, showcasing her journey on their Emmy award winning annual show 'Asian Influences'. Post the feature, Subhi was invited to perform at the ABC7 Chicago Studio. Her songs have appeared on NPR, SXSW 2018 & 2019 Official Spotify playlist and several radio stations all over USA.

Last month, Subhi was invited by Facebook to be a part of their Asian Heritage month celebration. She performed songs from her upcoming album & spoke on the Facebook panel at the Facebook Chicago office.

Subhi is a 2019 recipient of the Individual Artist Program Grant given by the City of Chicago and her second album is partially funded by the City of Chicago's department of Cultural affairs and special events.

Subhi is currently working on my second album. The album is a blend of Folk-Pop & Bassa Nova with lyrics in Hindi & English.
